Sanyo Z4 In Action
Sanyo Z4 or ThemeScene HD70 Projector???? one LCD one DLP. Both about the same price.?
I'd recommend the Sanyo Z4 in this instance for a number of reasons, but what may be helpful would be to explain it this way -
Sanyo has a premier home theater projector in the sub-$2000 category released each September and runs until the "new" version is released the following September. (Z1, Z2, Z3, Z4 and now Z5).
Sanyo puts great effort into making sure their model is the best option available in this price category every year ... and the sales numbers represent this. It's always the #1 or #2 seller overall in home theater for each year.
Where as the Optoma HD70 is quite simply Optoma's "cheap" entry into the home theater market. Their HD72 would be a much fairer comparison to the Z4.
Another way to look at it ... the Sanyo Z4 is a 2006 Mustang GT. Where as the Optoma HD70 is a 2007 Ford Focus (not to knock on the car).
Obviously there are a number of performance, warranty and convenience reasons to lean toward the Sanyo on top of this.
