Watch Educational Cheese on Satellite TV’s HD Format

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with educational cheese.  What is educational cheese?  It refers to original series or movies on cable/satellite that have some historical basis, but are probably not as strictly “educational” as say The History Channel or The Learning Channel.  Movies like “300” and “10,000 BC” or series like “Kings” and “The Tudors” may be slightly inspired by historical events, but few can deny that they are all about entertainment.  These programs make for even better educational cheese when you watch them in HDTV format.

HDTV format brings you high resolution content that can be shown on a high resolution LCD, Plasma or Rear Projector TV.  Not only do networks broadcast all of your favorite series like “Kings” in shows, but you can also catch over 130 premium channels broadcasting exclusive HD content.  Not only do you get HD Cinemax, HD Showtime and HD HBO, but you also get channels exclusively set aside by the satellite network for running HD movies.

Just what kind of HD are we talking about?  While most networks only broadcast in 1080i or 720p resolution (which experts claim is not true high resolution content, not like a Blu-Ray disc) satellite TV is actually expanding their programming for 1080p content, including many new on-demand titles.  Satellite TV is also offering an HD Access Package for $10 a month which unlocks all HD channels for you.

Not only can you enjoy educational cheese (yes you can see Spartans die in gritty, ultra-3D glory or see that drag queen Xerxes’ eyeliner up close and personal) but you can also enjoy true educational television like The Discovery Channel in HD or TLC HD as well as all of your favorite sports.  You can enjoy vivid color and superior resolution in all of your favorite sports leagues like the NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL.  Why you can even order the WWE Wrestlemania 25 in HD for just $10 more than the standard price.  That’s right…just don’t be alarmed when you see HBK mouthing the words “You’re hitting me too hard” to Chris Jericho—hey, HD TV brings out visual details you’ve never seen before!

HD format is crystal clear broadcasting and is superior to anything you’ve seen on standard television, at a cheap movie theater or even online.  (Yes, all those pirates who downloaded “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” got to see two hours of jumping blocks, pitch black backgrounds, slow load times and annoying advertisements)  There is no comparison between online TV (which is almost painful to watch) and HD TV which is brilliantly detailed and absorbing.

The best programming on any medium is currently on satellite TV.  Not only do you get the best TV series from network programming, but you also get the hard-hitting premium TV series and countless movies that would individually cost you $8 just for a rental fee.  Of course, you also get all that wonderful educational cheese—the type of B movies that quote real life figures even while spouting the most exaggerated dialogue.  That’s right, Leonidas—this is Sparta!  And to anyone who’s seen the historical fantasy “300” on HD, you know that is a lot to scream home about.

Your tv manual will tell you if you can or not. I thought they advised you not to as it has the potential to damage the screen. But I may be wrong.
