2 port video switch: Space saving economical solution eliminating expenditure on additional hardware
The main function of a 2 port Video Switch is to display the output of two computers on a single monitor. It enables users to switch between the signals from the different sources. The selection can be made via push buttons on the front of the unit, IR remote control or RS232. These devices are also equipped with LEDs which indicate the connection status. While the red LED indicates the status of the power adapter, the green LED indicates the connection between the PC and the switch. Images transmitted by the switches are crystal clear with a resolution of 1920 x 1440 @ 60 Hz and a pixel frequency of 250 MHz.
The video switch can support VGA, SVGA, XGA and Multisync Monitors or equivalent multimedia projectors. It is compatible with DDC, DDC2 and DDC2B, DDC2B+, DDC2AB protocols and is certified by FCC, RoHS As well as CE. Hot Pluggable and easy to install, this device requires no additional software or drivers for operation. It works by connecting the display to the Switcher's display output and both the video sources to the Switcher's inputs using the specific cables depending upon the type of switch. Once the sources, the Switcher and the display are all powered on and connected, the device is ready to be used. Both, the monitor and the CPU connectors are 15 pin HD female connectors. The Video Switcher eliminates the need to disconnect then reconnect multiple video sources and has the ability to auto skip over power off / suspended PC, and unplugged VGA cable.
Available in a stackable design, it allows for cascading making it possible for a larger number of computers to be connected. These switches can either be DVI, VGA or HDMI switches. The difference lies in the type of video source being used. Some of these switches are audio enabled and almost all of them support PCs as well as MACs. They are compatible with various operating systems including Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux, Mac and SUN. This 2 port video switch is highly recommended for presentations, classrooms, control center, remote monitoring & training facilities.

How do i switch between a monitor and a projector running froma single PC?
I've just set up a projector to use with my PC for gameing but i still want to keep the monitor for other tasks such as web browsing and work stuff. I've tried a VGA splitter cable but the picture becomes very dark. Is there a switch i can buy that will transfer the signal without having to keep unpluging the VGA cables?
Your video card should have video out options... you can then use the software to choose which display to use. What graphics card you got?
