How to Improve Interactive Learning through the Student Response Systems and the Interactive Whiteboards
Learning is very important in all aspects of all life. It is important from childhood, to one's place of work and even in old age. The way in which the thing being taught is presented is directly related to the way those being taught understand it. The student response systems and the Interactive Whiteboards are the most modern ways of ensuring that the learners interact, participate in the teaching process and therefore understand better.
What are Student response systems?
The Student response systems (SRS) entail the part of technology which uses radio frequency or infra red to transmit the answers from the learners to the questions asked by their teachers. The SRS device records and displays the responses in class presentation format. The hardware is composed of a clicker; the devise which is used by the learners and the receiver, which is used by the teacher. The receiver is connected to the computer's USB port hubs. It collects and displays the answers from the learner clearly.
The student response systems technology can be used to generate group sessions of all sizes ranging from small, medium to large. It can also be used for collecting answers and views on various questions in which the identity of the responder may need to be concealed.
How the Student response systems works
1. The teacher creates questions in Word, PowerPoint or in any other format and displays them digitally.
2. The learners vote.
3. The student response systems receiver then receives all the votes from the learners.
4. The teacher displays the graph and discusses the results.
What are Interactive Whiteboards?
Interactive Whiteboards are huge displays which are interactive. They are normally connected to a computer and a projector. The computer displays all what is on the computer desktop on the large white board. The white board is mounted on the floor in front of the audience. Its use is not limited to schools only. They can be used for presentations in the healthcare industry, boardrooms, training in companies, etc.
The normal lectures put the learners into the passive mode of reading. The SRS and Interactive Whiteboards bring in interaction and participation. This ensures that the learners understand and grasp what is being taught in its entirety. The reviews of SRS and IWBs on the learners have showed that they improve performance in exams. Reviews on the teachers have showed that SRS and IWBs increase the response from instructions and identifying the learning gaps. They also increase understanding, class discussion and learning from others, as well as the engagement of learners.

Will my powerpoint lag if laptop connected to projector?
I have a PPT with several videos, and i need to connect it to a projector at school for a presentation. Will the projector cause my vids to lag? (i just don't want to be stuck in a sticky situation if that happens) And i'm connecting my own laptop, not just loading from USB.

an external monitor or a projector will not cause your presentation to lag. If it runs on your lcd, it will work external.
I make presentations all the time. Make sure you bring your ac adapter. Make sure your mouse has a fresh battery. I've been embarrased before because my mouse didn't work and I had to have someone sit next to the notebook and hit the enter key. If you are allowed to bring a laser pointer to school, make sure it has fresh batteries. Make sure you ask, if you can use a pointer, don't assume
