Questions about the Optoma HD720X Projector?
I am interested in buying an Optoma HD720X projector but i have a few questions
1. Is it Widescreen?
2. What sort of connections does it have e.g. HDMI, Component AV?
3. Does it have HDMI?
4. Can it display 1080i/p
5. How bright is it?
6. how would i connect it to my PS3 and Laptop (The laptop has DVI and S-video)
7. Can i mount it on my ceiling
8. Does it have a headphone (3.5mm) jack. If it doesnt how would I connect it to my speakers
Any answers to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated
by the way since it doesnt have a 3.5mm jack does anybody know an optical to 3.5mm adaptor so i can connect the speakers directly to my PS3
if there is an adaptor so i could connect the speakers directly to the projector and by the way the HD720X does exist but it is a downgraded version of the HD70
The HD720x isn't listed on either the US or UK optoma site. That said, I thought it might be the HD70 (2nd link) ... but the specs are different. Here's a link (1st link) to some info on the HD720X. Lower CR, lower brightness than the HD70 (a well respected DLP projector).
The 3rd link is to a forum discussion.
With projectors you can ceiling mount them but have to account for the offset of the projected image. Basically this means the light is projected to a point above the lens (or below when ceiling mounted). This angle can be steep so sometimes between the offset and limitations on throw distance there is limited mounting flexibility. It can be mounted but may take some effort.
As to speakers, projectors are usually connected via an A/V receiver to process the sound and do the switching of input devices (DVD player, cable box, PS3, etc) and to power the speakers.
Do some reading on the projector central site.
Hope this helps. Cheers.
