Any one know about about a Canon P-8 projector?
My mom recently "inherited" an old projector. It says "Canon P-8" on it. From what I found on the internet, it seems like it would play 8 mm film. But it says "19mm" on it... I've never heard of 19mm film. What could this mean? Is it talking about the lense or something? Would it play 8mm movies?
Around the lense, it says "Canon Lense P-8. 19mm f:1.4 Canon Camera Co. Japan No. 10313" Don't know if that has anything to do w/anything. Mom says it looks like it's from the 1950's possibly?

You guessed right. The lens has a focal length of 19 mm, which has nothing to do with the type of film it shows. It just indicates how big the projected image will be at any given distance from the projector. The f1.1 refers to the diameter of the lens. Lower numbers mean the lens is bigger and the image will be brighter. The P-8 projector shows standard 8 mm silent film only, not Super-8 which came later and has smaller sprocket holes.
