If my projector accepts DVI input, then a HDMI -> VGA converter -> DVI converter will work?
My projector accepts DVI but not HDMI. It also accepts VGA. My home theatre room already has VGA running through the walls. I have a BluRay player and wanted to connect it to the projector.
Normally HDMI -> VGA connectors do NOT work because HDMI is digital and VGA is analog- However, since my projector accepts DVI and VGA, and DVI is digital, then an HDMI to VGA conversion, and then VGA to DVI might work, right?
I know ultimately I won't know until I connect it, but I thought I'd ask before I try!
Thanks!
The converters are not cheap and for the most part dont comply with the HDCP (security) regulations so some material (eventually all) may not play. For now you may be able to take the component signal out of the blu ray (assuming it has it) and then with a RCA to VGA cable send that to your projector. Most of the projectors could take a component signal into the vga jack. Again the catch will be the HDCP security thing.
