Home Entertainment Projector Questions?
If I mount a projector to the ceiling, what is the best way to get all of the cables and accessories to the projector. Does anybody know of a site with good pictures of this issue? Is there a better way of mounting or positioning a projector? Any advice would be great. Thanks.
It depends on the ceiling type. If you have a drop ceiling you can suspend the wires above the tiles with mountable zip ties. If you have a regular ceiling with an attic crawl space you can run the wires through the crawl space and drill a hole to go down the wall (will probably need wire push/pull rods). If you have a solid ceiling with no crawl space you may have to cut an opening to run the wire between the joist and possibly have a long run to get the wires where you need them. The other way is to use a wireless unit to send the signal to the projector.
There are many projector mounts that have been designed for the wires to run down inside the pipes to manage the wires to make the install look good.
As for mounting a projector, since you are doing a ceiling install you want the bottom of the projector to be level with the top of your screen (as much as possible) which will keep the image from keystoning. Make sure the lense is in the center of the screen; many projectors the lens is off to the left or right and is not in the center which could mess up yout install if you just center the mount to the screen.
