How to Decorate Wall with Mural

Mural is an artwork of painting on a permanent media such as wall and ceiling. Today mural becomes popular dealing with interior design. If you think of redesigning the interior of your house with mural, we have some tips for you.

Choosing the design is the first thing you should do. Print the design since you will need it while painting mural on the walls or ceiling. Using a copy machine, make a larger image in black-and-white copy so that you can see it in details. After that, make another image in black-and-white transparency. This transparency will be placed on an OHP (overhead projector).

Direct the projector onto the areas of wall or ceiling you want to paint. Adjust the position of the design projected by the OHP until you get the desired size. It is important that the OHP be placed on the right position. Don't place it in one angle since it may distort the projected image. Instead, put it straight away in front of the wall.

Take a pencil and draw the design projected by the OHP on the wall or ceiling. In case you want to move the OHP before you have done with design transferring, take a tape or anything else that can give a mark to the position of the projector. With such mark you can place the OHP on its former position when you need to continue transferring the design.

Now you may start painting the mural. You may use acrylic paint. Yet, remember that this type is quite transparent so that you have to spread it on the desired walls in at least 2 coats. For the color, choose the ones based on the design. Pour the paint into a container. Put aside the areas that need details. Instead, paint the larger areas first with a wide paintbrush. To paint the detailed areas, you can use a round paintbrush. For technique of painting, you can shade the colors by painting the top of the first coat before it gets dry.

Those are tips to paint mural on wall using OHP to transfer the design of the mural. Now you can apply them to decorate any rooms in your house and get a stunning look from the mural.

transparencies?????????????????????????????????

Can i use a transparency sheet meant for a copy machine for my ink jet printer? will it work? will it be the same or should i just get the right one? i dont want to test it out because then i might just have to return it.
they are different, the sheets that i have, have strips along the side, where as the ink jet one would have the strip in the bottom of the paper.
transparencies = overhead projector

Thanks a bunch!!!!! happy snow day! ♥

I wouldn't recommend it as the result would be less than optimum or satisfactory. Transparencies are designed specifically for different machines/printers/copiers for several reasons. One reason is the surface type & texture are designed to accept the unique ink or toner of the different machines so that it sticks correctly & looks good without coming off or not sticking at all. Another reason is they are designed to work in different machines for the paper handling design of the printer to prevent jamming & also so the printers can properly detect them in others. Laser printers also require media that is heat resistant for the fusing process.

So it is best to get the correct media for your particular printer or copy machine so that it is compatible & produces the results you need.

Best of luck.
