Optoma GT720 projector meltdown part1

My projector is overheating. What's the best way to keep it cool?

I bought a used Optoma HD70 a few weeks ago. It started overheating and shutting down. I just want to know if there are any kits available to try and keep it cool. I attached a big fan to my ceiling right next to it but it only worked for a few days. I guess the real meat of my question would be, how can i hookup 2 computer fans (one on the intake, one on the exhaust) with the least hassle possible? If you have any BETTER suggestions that would be massively appreciated! For all the detail freaks just trying to earn points: Warranty is expired, can't return it. Having it professionally repaired would set me back around 200 bucks. It's not the lamp, i just replaced it today). K... have fun!

The projector is designed to handle the heat generated. If it is overheating, something is preventing the built in cooling from working adequately.

The most likely thing is a plugged cooling filter ... take out and clean (or replace) it.

Other possibilities are that the cooling fan is shot (have it fixed), or that you have it mounted so that the cooling is obstructed (e.g. sitting inside a cabinet, on a rug, etc.) Make sure the cabinet -- particulalry the intake and exhaust ports -- are unobstructed.

In the unlikely event that one of these "fixes" doesn't work I would suggest a higher capacity cooling fan ... but that may introduce a noise problem.
