Would video look better on a projector than on a large computer monitor?
I'm a 14 year old wannabe filmmaker, and the camera I'm currently filming with shoots at 720p as opposed to 1080p. I want to make a feature with this camera (Nikon D5000) but am afraid about how it might look, should it ever be blown up to a 20 foot cinema screen (or possibly even larger), as while it looks fine on my laptop and my TV, displaying it on any computer monitor with a resolution larger than 720p makes it look terrible. My hope is that monitors and projectors display video in different ways, as there's a resolution the computer has to abide by, and with a projector you're just blowing up tiny images with glass and a light-bulb? Am I right in thinking this way? Really could use all the information you can give me...
The format can be digitally remastered , reconfigured for however it's presented.
The important aspect is how you have composed your shot and will it be appropriate
when its 20 ft tall. Compose your shots avoiding too much hand held jerkiness.
A good example of excellent hand held work is Spielberg's "War Of The Worlds.
Much of that film is handheld, and not all Steadicam. Do you have a story that is
interesting. Are you injecting to much of your own opinion into the film (unless your
shooting a documentary). Are you thinking of new ways to present a shot, are you
experimenting and being truthful with yourself whether it's good, or not. Keep your
ego out of your film. Does it begin simply, everyday situations and gradually add layers, ever so lightly, building suspense until the ending. Don"t shoot all your firecrackers in the first 5 minutes. You'll wind up with 55 minutes of no firecrackers, tweed ling your thumbs.
