Nikon Projector Camera: iGIZMO review

Wide-angle lens and Nikon Coolpix S1000pj Digital Camera/projector

Landscape photographers will often struggle with recreating in two dimensions the impact and spread of a stunning vista.

They just don't transfer all that well to a photograph.  So focus on the following ideas!

Firstly, don't try to get it all! You can't, so don't both trying!  Consider going the other way and zooming in on a

particular object of interest and at the same time eliminate distracting backgrounds and objects.

Secondly, buy a really wide angle lens (like a 12mm – not a "Fish eye" mind).  If your budget can stretch to it consider a

12-24mm zoom lens as this will allow you to get the "really big" picture!  This has the additionally benefit of giving

clouds a lovely sense of movement around their edges!

Nikon has combined a miniature LED projector with a digital camera.  Does it work?  Well yes, but with some compromises!

The look is fairly predictable and is very ordinary compact camera, with the exception of the extra lens on the front for

the projector!

Image quality is okay and in keeping with what you would expect to see from contemporary units in the market place.  The

Nikon D-Lighting feature enhances a generally good dynamic range but digital noise can be an issue.  If your pick of mediums

is Facebook then this won't really affect you.

The 12 megapixels do not really extend to allowing large scale cropping.  The real selling point on this compact is the 10

lumen LED projector of course.  It will project onto walls from a distance of up to 2 metres.  The projector is not overly

strong so a decent set of dark curtains or a dark room will enhance the viewing experience.  With a capacity to project up

to a 40-inch screen this Nikon Coolpix is sure to impress fellow party goers!

D90 Video Audio Problem?

I just bought a Nikon D90. I tried out the video feature but there was no sound when I played it back on both the camera and the computer. All it does is click. It sounds like a running movie projector. Is this a setting or is the mic broken?
Oh and the mic isn't covered.

Do you check sound setting?
