Whey won’t my multimedia projector listen to my laptop?
My Optima projector works on my brother’s laptop, think we hit Fn F3 to make it work on his, by my Acer running Windows XP isn’t working. It will display when booting up, but then stops. I tried connecting/disconnecting while the lap top is on and before start up. Tried all the Fn and Cntrl keys.
I know there’s got to be a simple setting that I’m missing.
Help!
Thanks Joel,!
Haven’t tried that. Makes sense and is simple enough. Will try it this evenin’!
Any other suggestions out there? Would like a plan B & C as well! ; D
His laptop can only support one display at a time, so when it notices the projector, it makes it the display. It assumes you wouldn’t connect an external display you didn’t want to use.
Your laptop can support multiple displays. So when it notices a new display, it doesn’t do anything. It assumes you still want to use your existing display as you were, since you can use both at the same time.
To tell your laptop what to do, right-click on an unused area of the desktop. Select ‘Properties. Then ‘Settings’. You should see a picture of both of your displays. Click on the one representing the projector and you can configure its resolution, extend your desktop on it, make it primary, or whatever you need to do.
