Sanyo PLV-Z700 vs MitsubishiHC5500?
I am trying to pick between two projectors that I don't have access to to see for myself. Sanyo PLV-Z700 vs Mitsubishi HC5500.
My current room I have pretty good flexibility in placement (0-20 feet centered on screen) so the limited zoom/shift on the Mitsubishi should not be a problem. Also, the room is dark (I can make pitch black).
I can get both for 1450-1500 so price is not an issue.
Use is mainly movies (iTunes downloads, upscaled DVDs, eventually HD/BlueRay), XBOX and Wii.
I can also get cheap extended warranties so both could be covered for at least 5 years ... so warranty is not an issue (unless one company is notorious for not honoring the warranty).
Either should be a fine projector, but you have to decide what matters to you. See the reviews at the links. The 3rd link has a review, but also does a comparison of the two projectors. The main concern I would have with the Sanyo is that it uses organic LCD panels (vs inorganic in the Mitsubishi)... which are considered to be more prone to fading over time. Based on original price, if you can get the Mitsubishi for the same price as the Sanyo I'd, personally, favor it. But that's me.
