HD Projector or LCD TV?
Building a movie / sports room. Debating over HD projector or LCD TV. Read many reviews concerning how dark the room should be with a projector; which would be fine while watching a movie. The other plus is I can install a large screen. BUT I'm a big sports fan and it not the greatest thing to watch sports with the lights off. Football and other sports brings family and friends together. The largest TV on the market is 65 in. - THOUGHTS?
Depending on your throw distance it makes it hard to determine. I would say a projector is a decent thing to use but not most common projectors would not be the correct type to purchase. I would say you are going to need a high end projector. These projectors are not bright enough to project a quality image. I would say you would need a projector with a really bright lumens rating so you don't have to worry about light bleed and it would also provide a bright enough atmosphere to entertain company. The Downside of a projector is they have lamps. The lamps need to be replaced every 1000 hours or so. As the lamp is used it will slowly start to dim. As far as projectors go they need to have space to have "shoot" the image, so that being said if you are looking to entertain a large group of people it can pose a problem with people standing in the way of the "shoot." I really don't know if a TV would compare the the size of a projector but it would provide another additions to a projector. The other additions would be a possibility to have widgets to download movies directly to the TV and or be able to have more options for TV and satellite hookups. As far as projectors they do not always have the connections an may need to have adapters to hook the products to the projector. I am not sure if it is what you are looking for but it is information that is necessary to make the judgment to decided or at least make a more informed decision.
