Rear projection television displays a ghost image.?

My 42″ Mitsubishi rear projection television is about 10 years old now and it’s starting to have a ghost image when I’m watching it. At first it was on and off, but now, it’s there almost every day. It’s mostly a yellow image. Does this mean the rear projectors are on their way out? I doubt it’s worth repairing….is it just time to ditch the rear projection and look for a new LCD tv?

I’d hit up the yellow pages to be honest. Ask around and find out how much a repair might be. Or call Mitsubishi and see if they have a service center in your area (or a 3rd party company they contract out to). Just get an idea of the cost. Then you can compare that against a new TV.

A new 42″ set, of good quality, LCD or Plasma, is gonna float near $750-$800 likely (maybe a bit more for a good LCD). If the TV repair is $500, then well, yah not so much worth it to repair. But if you can get the TV repair in say $250 or less, well then that’s a fair bit less, even though its a repair. Its a significant gap vs buying a whole new TV.
