John Harrington-WHAT WE USE - Laptop Kit
Building the Perfect Home Theatre Experience
Being able to enjoy films just like we do in the cinema but in the comfortable (and much cheaper) environment of our own homes has long been an aim for many people in the UK, enjoying the action, sights and sounds of the latest movies or even sporting events has always been a big focus for those looking to buy a new TV or surround system.
Being able to build something that rivals the local multiplex though is going to need some serious money and time to make sure you buy the right kit for your home. First of all many people will want to sort the screen or viewing device, we say device as not all home theatres use a TV, some may use a projector just like in the movie theatre. If you have a screen or even a plain wall you could project images much bigger than any TV you could buy and with many HD projectors now available you could get the crisp picture of a HDTV set but one that engulfs your home.
The only downside to owning a projector is expensive costs compared to many leading LCD and Plasma televisions, also they don't fare well in well lit rooms, and instead they are best used in dark rooms which may make them less preferable as your main TV.
When it comes to sound many people will opt for more speakers and have them placed all around the room, wired speakers can be fiddly and require a degree in electronics as you try to route the cables through your room and hide them out of sight. Fortunately many surround speakers are wireless and can be mounted anywhere in the room with no worries about trailing wires or the wires not being long enough.
There are sound bars, elongated single speakers that include many speaker parts in one long box that can provide pseudo-surround sound and can be great if your room doesn't quite have the space for larger speakers or can't have them mounted on the walls. These sound bars aren't as good as individual speakers from traditional surround sound speaker sets but they are a good alternative that many people have reported as being a suitable substitute.
A lot of people will make sure that other features of their home theatres are in place such as comfy seats and couches and lights with a dimmer switch to make sure your room fits the description. With plenty of new TVs at huge sizes and low prices there are many ways you could create a home theatre experience but you should make sure you do your research and compare the many models out there.
There are many Plasma TVS and LCD TVs as well as all the home entertainment features to help you enjoy TV, movies and sport.

Is this "make your own 150" projector for less than $50.00" real?

it says it comes with a lens and plans, and it says it works with all video game systems, i want to hook it up to my 360 but would it come with everything i need to make a projector? how would i plug my 360's av ports into it?
It does work, my friend and I built our own way back in the late 70's. You can use any color TV set up to 13'' then you build the box according to the directions. TV fits inside of box with the lens they sell you. But we needed to buy a screen which was also built for home made sets. When the first large screen TV's came on the seen, way back then they were costly
a few grand. We built ours for the cost of the screen which was about $ 125.00 and the plans and lens which was about $75.00 at that time. And at that time period the picture quality
was pretty good . Well lets put it this way, if your TV was a good color TV then the quality was good. I actually went one better and built an open up drop down cabinet that contain a perfect mirror that reflected the lens to an attached screen
above the cabinet. It really looked store bought. As a matter of fact the guy I sold my house too wanted to buy it. So something that cost me around $300.00 total, he paid me $800.00 for it and I'm not kidding you . It's a fact.
My friend made about 5 of the type that projected the TV through the lens to a screen about 6 feet away and sold them and made quite a profit doing so. If you are handy you too can build one. The thing to remember is the TV that you use must be a good quality TV ,good color and good clear picture.
But you also have to turn the picture upside down 180 degrees and flip it horizontally, so when it is projected it is right side up and left is left and right is right. Another words the picture is correct when projected. It was a challenge but well worth it in the end. Because for a few hundred dollars I had a large screen TV 50'' diagonal. I also had fun building it.
The switching of the TVscreen is done by 4 wires in the TV itself.2 wires when cut and reversed for horizontal and 2 wires cut and reversed for vertical. Thats it . Black and white wires reversed and red and green wires reversed.
P.S. If the TV you have has all the goodies in the rear, inputs etc. that's where you plug in your stuff .. The onlty thing you change is the screen picture it self.
I hope this helps you in some way
George
