This is the first projector so I can not really much of a technical review. However, here are the things I noticed in the short time I have had so far ...
As others have said, is clear. Can I use it in the middle of the day with blinds open and can see very well. From what I understand, the picture will get progressively dimmer your own hours, but for now enjoy.

The photo can be quite large. So far I have used a figure of about 8 meters wide with a good picture. The projector is 14ft away from the wall. Certainly much more than an LCD or Plasma!
I bought this projector to transfer the short term. We wanted to television and thought if I bought a projector, I could take it home with me a few months. Easily "portable, and it is a case (unlike some others. I also looked into getting the Optoma hd66 is in the same order of magnitude, I do not think it came with a suitcase and ViewSonic has a few features) .
I did not even use 3D 3D glasses are still very expensive, but one day I hope to try it.
If the bulb lasts 4000-6000 hours, you are completely satisfied. That gives me many years of use, and then it's time to upgrade (technology flies these days)! Or you can replace the lamp, although I have not found the bulbs online. Use the ECO, and that the difference in service and ECO model is hardly noticeable. ECO mode is plenty bright enough.
UPDATE: Make sure the contrast settings to check if we are not a good picture. The contrast setting to 0-to-HDMI input and somehow I'm almost thinking behind the reception was worse (see only a black screen). I'm not sure why it changed, but be sure to check the image seems to be disabled, but does not change itself.

This projector represents remarkable value for money
A nice and very bright picture.
The only downside I can see is that the throw distance is very short and the image size is not very adjustable due to the lens being only X 1.2. This means that there isn't much choice in the placement of the projector for a given image size. However, at the price point of this projector it's impossible to complain about a minor nuisance like this.

Great Image Quality
As a visual/digital artist I will get a lot of great use out of this projector for my projects. The projector has a great image quality-a crisp, bright, hi rez image.

super-bright, high res, widescreen, affordable
3000 lumens gives amazing brightness with a projection on my wall about 8-10ft across. HDMI input so you don't have to worry about signal quality issues from analog VGA cables. Web browsing is crisp and easily readable from across the room, and movies look great also. Lots of features in the menu system including digital keystone correction, detailed color controls, captioning, customizable start-up splash-screen and more. And the default settings are good, right out of the box.
The price is very competitive, many projectors on the market are years-old models, not this one. I was shopping for a projector for months and consistently dissatisfied with the price vs features until I saw this model and immediately pre-ordered it.
The fan noise is present but very reasonable, during any movie watching one will quickly forget that it is there. Eco mode is just a small step less bright than full on, so I am using that most of the time since its plenty bright and gives a longer lamp life and slightly less noise.
It comes with a carrying case also, a nice touch.
No idea about the 3D performance yet, as I don't have anything that generates 3D content.

Cheap projector for good Value?
I would like to get a good projector with a good value that I can hook up to my laptop/ game system for my dorm room. I don't want to spend a lot of money but want to get one that will work well and maybe last a year or two.

Best way to handle this is go into or call up a couple of your local computer stores and ask some of the nerd tech guys for their opinion on a couple of projectors. Once you have a couple specific names don't pay retail for it, I recommend you use this free web app, Basically it does a search threw all the top online stores for you and brings up the cheapest price, watch the 1min video when you open it up to know what I'm talking about and how to search with it.
