2 Questions; Projector Resolution and Recommendation.?
I'm looking to get a projector for my video games. I'm limited with the amount of money I have so I'm looking for something around $200-$250 if possible. It will primarily be used with my video games (Xbox 360).
If I were to purchase a projector (the InFocus IN1 is what I'm looking at now) and the native resolution is 480p or 600p, if I were to send a 720p signal from my Xbox, would the image be projected in 16:9, add the black mattes (letterbox bars) or would it shrink the horizontal resolution to fit a 4:3 (distort)?
Does anyone have any recommendations on a projector? I have a VGA adapter for my 360 so if it doesn't come with Component or HDMI, that's fine. It will primarily be played in a dark bedroom, approx. 15'x10' in size.
I wouldn't settle for less than XGA resolution (1024x768). But in that price range, you'll have to get a used projector.
Most projectors will take whatever resolution you send and downconvert to their native resolution, but it's better to set the Xbox to the projector's native resolution. Projectors have options for changing aspect ratio, so you'll have black bars if you don't distort a 720p signal. Actual resolution would be 1024x576 for an XGA projector when projecting a widescreen image.
