Pneumatic projector mount

Ceiling that is about 61/2 feet high to low for a DLP projector.?

Hello i am most likely planning on buying the optoma hd65. I just thought about it though, and realized i have a very low ceiling, about 81 inches(6 ft 9 inches) If i have a mount that will bring the optoma hd65 4 inches down from the ceiling, is that going to be to low? Am i going to need to buy an LCD projector.(not really sure on the difference but read somewhere that you have more control of placement with the LCD rather then DLP)
Thanks
i dont mind if my screen is very high up because it is covering a window anyway
If the optoma hd65 is not going to work out, what lcd projectors do you recommend for a similar price range?

There is limited flexibility with the HD65 ... partially due to the 1.1 zoom lens and also the 23% offset angle. See the review at the link ... and the comments re mounting. Note that a coffee table mount may work best. You can get away with a ceiling mount in a low ceiling room, BUT you may have limited capacity to use a large screen (since larger screens need to be higher top to bottom ... and vertical placement is going to be limited by the low ceiling). Remember, ideally, you want a point 1/3 of the way up the screen to be at eye level when seated in the normal viewing position.

In a pinch you can tilt the projector a bit to shift it up or down, but to avoid distortion you need to arrange to tilt the screen the same angle.

Note that DLP and LCD projectors aren't inherently different re. mounting ... it's the optics that differ and LCD models TEND to have more flexibility (wider zoom, vertical and horizontal offset) ... but cost more too.

Hope that helps.
