Usage of Samsung Document Cameras in Teaching Purpose
Samsung is renowned electronics company since 1970, they are dedicated to making a better world through diverse businesses that today span advanced technology, skyscraper, semiconductors, and plant construction.
One of my favorite products that Samsung presents is document camera which has been one of the most, if not the most, effective pieces of teaching technology. Of course teachers begin by using it as a glorified overhead projector. That's where you start. You've got to walk before you run. Teachers can immediately utilize the document camera as an overhead. And they are immediately comfortable with it that way.
This technology is flexible and teacher can easily use it and can keep his/her student attention longer. Students are more engaged when they see their own or other student work on the document camera. So the teacher can guide them in the text by putting the book directly up on the document camera.
Some extra features that can perform:
Draw
The most important work using the document camera is to display student work for evaluation by the class as well as using the draw feature to underline, highlight and write on documents that are displayed. So this feature on the document camera is especially helpful for these activities.
Freeze
Freeze to render the first steps in a math problem, and then finish it with the kids so that they can evaluate their work and start correctly. Freeze and draw on worksheets, show student work immediately.
Save-time to a computer
Saving images to a computer saves scanning items.
Save and show student work on the computer.
Save and compare the results from different groups
Its most important usage is to demonstrate new material, explain the student that how they have to work. Student can easily understand when they visualize. Teacher can also explain 3D models, so less time can spent passing an item around to view.
Math tools that are rulers, compasses, calculators etc show well on the document cameras and the fact that it shows color makes color-coding and maps much more significant and effective. Music books, sheet music and other teaching materials are used on the document camera. This is a great tool to help teach music reading skills and literacy too.
