What is DLP?
Current Home Theater Projectors Technology
Scientists and engineers have worked very hard to fine tune the fast improving projector-making industry as it became more and more in demand in order to be used in professional fields. At this time, projectors are already widely used in the corporate and business world, as well as in classrooms of most middle schools, high schools even lecture halls in colleges. However, it has become a trend that the smaller the projector, the better quality consumers will get, albeit at a significantly higher cost.
The main types of projectors available in the market can generally be divided into two categories; the first type being the home theater projectors and the second type is the multimedia projectors. These two types of projectors have different characteristics and usage.
The home theater projectors can be connected to every home audiovisual unit via digital connection whereas multimedia projectors are widely used in business and professional industries as the components are built to assist multimedia presentations. With computer-based resolution, presenting Excel documents or PowerPoint slides can be easy and friendly to the eyes of the audience.
The current projector technology is now installed with powerful display systems namely Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), Digital Light Processing (DLP) and Liquid Crystal on Silicone (LCoS) types of digital beamers. The LCD-based projectors' optical device consists of three LCD display panels for 3 three primary RGB colors, which enable the device to project full-color images on to the screen. The reasons most people opt for LCD projectors are because of the affordability, sharper image display and great color saturation.
Meanwhile, the DLP projectors use a single monochrome DLP chip and generating colors with the spinning of the color filter wheel, including primary colors on to the screen. The DLP projector is quite similar to its LCD counterpart but it displays deeper black and smoother images albeit with higher contrast and brightness.
The latest technology used in projectors is the Liquid Crystal on Silicone (LCoS ) projectors, which is an implementation of the DLP and LCD projector technology. LCoS is an innovative technology that is normally applied in television projection called "micro-display" technology. The LCoS projectors applied the same idea of DLP projectors but instead of using reflective lights, LCoS projectors use liquid crystal to replace the individual mirrors.
It is a good idea to do further research on ones need or the types of projector to buy before splashing out cash for one. A careful research makes better decision without regretting about the purchase later

LCD or Plasma T.V. for my bedroom?
Hello,
I plan on making somewhat of a home-theater out of my bedroom, and so I'm looking to buy a 65"+ television. I've been hearing Plasma is better for a larger sized T.V., but I've also heard that when you're sitting close to a Plasma, it is not as good for the eyes as a LCD. (I also plan on using the screen as a computer monitor, so I will be approx. 60-80 inches away from the screen) I was looking into maybe a 82" DLP LCD projector, or a 65" Plasma, but I haven't decided yet. So, with my wanting of a large sized T.V. and being relatively close, what are your recommendations?
