Rear Projection Television and DLP Technology

Are you looking for a big screen TV with a not so expensive price tag? Then, a rear projection TV is one option you should consider. When it comes to combining low price and high performance, rear projector TVs are the best. Though there are several projection technologies in use, Digital Light Processing (DLP) projector technology is the most popular one.

Advantages of DLP Technology DLP technology, originally developed by Texas Instruments, incorporates an optical semiconductor called the DLP chip. With this you can expect superb black level performance and deep saturated colors apart from excellent image uniformity. Televisions with DLP technology deliver bright images, so you can place them even in well-lit rooms. The ultra-fast DLP chip also makes them ideal for watching sports and fast action.

The rear projection TV houses a projector, which streams the image from behind the screen. A DLP projector has four main components, namely a color wheel, DMD chip, light, and optics. The DLP TV lamp is the main light source of a rear projection TV. A DLP TV lamp has so many positive aspects.

First and foremost, these projection TV lamps have a much longer life of about 70,000 hours when compared to Plasma TVs. The next big advantage is that replacing a rear projection TV lamp is not so expensive. It is also simple and takes only a few minutes. So do not panic when your TV starts going dim. All you need to do is replace the DLP TV lamp. There is no better place than BulbToGo.com to look for a good projector replacement lamp.

In video projector technology, what is the difference between LCD & DLP ? Which one better !?

Which is the latest technology LCD or DLP ?

Both have been around a long time and you can get a good picture from both.

With LCD, a backlight is trying to shine through a layer of liquid crystal pixels. Great resolution is possible but you will have a hard time getting the screen to look "black" during dark movie scenes because there is some light leakage between the LCD pixels. Also the screen does not "refresh" very fast and so sometimes you might see image defects when things move quickly on the screen.

With DLP, light shines over a chip (or three chips) that each have little tiny mirrors that adjust to either reflect light towards the lens or not. Again, you can get great resolution but also nice deep blacks. Some (VERY few) people with very keen eyesight might see a "rainbow" effect when watching on "single-chip" DLP's. If you are one of these people then you could find this picture unwatchable! 3-Chip DLP's are very expensive but they will not have this problem.

While there are people who feel very strongly about which technology they have chosen for themselves, the best thing you can do is to look at both and choose what looks best to you.
