High Quality HID Kits
If you have watched "The Fast and the Furious" movie and its sequels, you would have admired the amazingly gorgeous cars they've shown. Most of them had their engines modified for superlative performance. Well, if you had the money to burn, there really is no limit to what you can do to alter in your car's specifications. You can modify anything from its interiors with the latest motorsport racing steering wheels to high quality HID kits as headlights on the exterior. They may cost quite a fortune, if you ask me. But necessary or not, there is no stopping these car aficionados from spending their cash on their "babies".
One of the accessories one can splurge on is by investing on high quality HID kits. These kits give your headlights that oomph. It is a lighting system that uses gas rather than a filament as a light source. High quality HID kitsuse electric lamps that belong to the family of gas discharge lamps. They are sources of artificial light that produces light via releasing of electric current in a gas, like xenon gas, for instance. Although they are quite expensive, they last long, are very bright and are very efficient. High intensity discharge lamps are in the same genre as the ordinary fluorescent lamp. How it works is similar to how a fluorescent light works.
The Gas Discharge Lamp Variety & Uses
Fluorescent lamps are, in fact, one of the most commercially used lamps among the gas discharge variety. It is used in most houses and offices as a dependable source of lighting. The sodium lamp is another type of gas discharge lamps but because of its color, it is most commonly used as a street light. Metal halide lamps are also another type of discharge lamps. They are used in airports, car parks, large indoor and outdoor sporting areas like baseball arenas, gymnasiums or football stadiums because they can be intensely bright. They are also widely used as headlamps in motor vehicles like the high quality HID kits. They can also be found in LCD and DLP projectors as well as in television sets like the LCD TV, plasma TV, projection TV, etc.
How It Works
A high-intensity discharge (HID) lamp, also called an arc lamp, needs the following:
- electric arc
- electrodes made of tungsten material
- metal salts or halides
- xenon or similar gas
All these are set in one tube. When the electric arc is heated up, the metal salts evaporate. What is then seen is a plasma or a source of intensely bright light. They are more efficient in transforming electricity to light because there is not much heat produced as a by product. Almost everything is efficiently converted into bright light.
Color
One of the more distinct characteristics of these high quality HID kits is their color. Different wavelengths of the light produced by the arc determine the color of the light emitted. It is perhaps the color and the brightness that sets apart these high quality HID kits from standard headlight sets available in the market.
